2. What we collect and why
This is a brochure-style website. It does not host accounts, take payments on-page, or set non-essential cookies. We collect personal data only in three narrow contexts:
a) Server access logs
- What: IP address, request URL, response code, timestamp, user-agent string. Held in standard Apache access logs.
- Why: To operate, secure and troubleshoot the website (legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
- Retention: Logs are kept for up to 90 days, then deleted or rotated.
b) Email enquiries
- What: Your name, email address, and the contents of any message you send to [email protected].
- Why: To respond to your enquiry and, if a sale proceeds, to perform the resulting contract (Article 6(1)(b)) and to comply with our record-keeping obligations as a Nominet self-managed registrar (Article 6(1)(c) and (f)).
- Retention: Active correspondence kept for the duration of the negotiation; concluded sale records kept for seven years for tax and audit purposes; unanswered enquiries deleted within twelve months.
c) Buyer details on a completed sale
- What: Buyer's name (or company name), postal address, billing email, VAT number where supplied, payment reference, and the receiving Nominet IPS tag.
- Why: Performance of the sale contract, registry-level transfer to Nominet (Article 6(1)(b)), tax records and statutory accounting obligations (Article 6(1)(c)).
- Retention: Seven years from completion of sale.
3. Cookies and analytics
This site sets no tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics. The CDN in front of the site (Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary cookies for security and rate-limiting, which are exempt from PECR consent requirements.
4. Who we share data with
- Nominet UK — the .uk registry. We are required to share registrant data (name, address, contact) for any domain we transfer to a buyer. See Nominet's privacy and policy framework.
- HMRC and our accountants — for statutory tax and accounting records.
- Payment / escrow providers (e.g. our bank, Escrow.com or Sedo) — only if you choose to pay through one of those routes.
- Email and hosting providers processing data on our behalf under written contracts.
We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties. We do not transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA except to providers operating under the UK ICO's adequacy decisions or appropriate safeguards (e.g. the UK addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be informed about processing (this notice);
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Have inaccurate data corrected;
- Have data erased where it is no longer needed and no overriding legal obligation requires us to keep it;
- Restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances;
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable form where applicable;
- Withdraw consent, where processing relies on it.
To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We respond within one calendar month.
